| The application period for the gallery project will end on 1 June 2011, and the gallery programme will be announced during the autumn of 2011. The year 2012 will be significant for the international exposure of Finnish design. During Helsinki's year as Design Capital, the design community and related actors will present the field from various perspectives in many different ways. In 2012, Design Museum will be actively involved with actors of the field of design by making itself available in new and fresh ways. The museum will give members of the design community an opportunity to present their achievements in a series of twelve exhibitions in its Gallery (a space of approximately 250 square metres on the ground floor). Extending throughout the year, Design Gallery 12 is one of Design Museum's many activities scheduled for 2012. Together with the museum's main exhibitions on the history and meanings of design, it will form a significant entity of its own. Design Museum will be a meeting place and forum for the general public, where the real meaning of the Design Capital year is emphasized. Design Museum hereby issues an open call to all actors of the design community to be part of the programme for 2012 at Design Gallery 12. Those interested in participating can submit their exhibition/project proposals using the application form on the museum's webpage’s at www.designmuseum.fi. The proposal can be for a one-evening event or an exhibition of approximately one month's duration, or anything in between. Proposals are to be posted or emailed in accordance with the instructions to Design Museum. All submissions will be handled with confidentiality, and twelve exhibitions/projects will be selected for the Gallery 12 series. The application period will end at 4 p.m. on 1 June 2011, and the Design Gallery 12 programme will be announced during the autumn of 2011.
