"Mākslas klubs" piedāvā tikšanos ar kolekcionāriem no Parīzes Viļņā "Art Club" Series of events "Meeting with Art Collectors" presents "Lemaître Collection" on October 10 at National Gallery of Art (Vilnius).
Although a growing number of institutions now collect video works, it is still quite unusual to find private video collectors. Paris-based Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître are among the most ambitious international contemporary film and video collectors.
Jean-Conrad Lemaître and his wife Isabelle Lemaître have come from a traditional family background in France. They began collecting contemporary art in 1983. Lemaître collection comprises number of works by world famous artists including Lithuanian artist Deimantas Narkevicius.
During the event the Lithuanian National Prize laureate Deimantas Narkevicius will present its artworks and share his experience in conquering the global art scene. Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître will speak up about their knowledge of collecting contemporary art. Moreover, audience will have a unique opportunity to see the screening of the favorite artworks that they own.

Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître
Paris-based Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître are among the most cutting edge international contemporary film and video collectors. They began collecting contemporary art in 1983. Their collection includes painting, sculpture and photography, but their focus over the past ten years has been video art. This deep interest in video art has its origin in their passion for cinema.
Lemaître have been generous in lending works for museums, exhibitions and showing their video art at home. They support a number of public institutions. They are Friends of the Pompidou Centre and Friends of Fondation La Maison Rouge in Paris. Lemaître have also created and sponsored "VideoCollector" prize at Le Fresnoy in Tourcoing, which is a prize for young video artists.
The Lemaître collection includes work by the Turner Prize-winner Gillian Wearing, Mark Wallinger, Tacita Dean, Isaac Julian, Steve McQueen and Keith Tyson. 33 different nationalities are represented in the Lemaître collection (Argentina, Israel, Lebanon, Lithuania, Estonia, Mexico, Porto Rico, Turkey, China, Japan etc).
Deimantas Narkevicius
Deimantas Narkevicius is an artist and filmmaker born in 1964 in Utena, current based in Vilnius. He makes film and video works which uncompromisingly place the individual and their history at the centre of things. Narkevicius is a conceptual artist, a critic and exhibition curator.
Deimantas Narkevicius is one of the most consistent and widely recognized Lithuanian artists on the international art scene. He represented the country at the 2001 Venice Biennale and exhibited at the 2003 Venice Biennale. In 2008, Narkevicius received the prestigious Vincent van Gogh Biennial Award for Contemporary Art, which is given to the most successful European artists every two years. His artworks are on exposition in most famous museums of modern art. Art museums and foundations from various countries purchase his works. According to artists rating of „ArtFacts“, currently Deimantas Narkevicius is artist #394 in the global art scene and continuously increases.
