This month Modern Art Oxford's Live@MAO series brings you a mouth-watering programme of live music and performance in the Gallery's Basement space. This May don't miss Mouth, featuring 10 cutting edge artists; Del Casher and the Lotus Pedals presented in association with OCM; an evening of sounds and music by Syzygy, performers and composers at Oxford University; and You Don't Love Me Yet which invites 15 local bands to perform their cover versions.

Referencing the original use of the 1960's basement space at Modern Art Oxford which hosted original new performance and poetry, Mouth presents sounds that face you, words that clench. Musician MacGillivray brings together ten exciting artists, including Stevie Wishart, Tom Chivers, Carter Revard and David Cunningham for an innovative evening at the Gallery.

Del Casher and the Lotus Pedals

Unsung Californian guitar hero and inventor of the Wah Wah pedal, Del Casher pays tribute to guitar pioneer Les Paul’s back catalogue as well as new songs with the Lotus Pedals. Incorporating. Del Casher presents an evening of musical entertainment in his inimitable and at times very funny style. Presented by Oxford Contemporary Music.

Syzygy

Syzygy (performers and composers from Oxford University) present a vibrant evening of sound and music combining traditional instruments (piano and clarinet), live electronics (kaoss pad and laptops) with whatever else comes to hand (wine glasses and FM radio).

You Don't Love Me Yet

For Johanna Billing’s ongoing project You Don’t Love Me Yet (2002 - 2010), based around the song of the same name by Texan singer-songwriter Roky Erickson, the artist has invited different bands to cover the song, in a live tour that has so far been to 22 different cities. Around 15 local bands and individual musicians will participate in Oxford’s version of You Don’t Love Me Yet.
