Juri and Ivi Arrak exhibition [09.03.2012. 11:16]
Gallery Bastejs (Riga) will hold an opening of an exhibition of works by Estionian artist Jüri Arrak and his wife Ivi Arrak on March 9, 2012. The exhibit will consist of drawings by Jüri Arrak in the author’s technique and paintings by Ivi Arrak.

Jüri Arrak is an outstanding personality in Estonian art life; his creative life spans over half a century. In 2011 the artist celebrated his 75th anniversary by holding several exhibitions.

Gallery Bastejs will display part of the drawings exhibited in Tartu Art Museum at the end of last year, covering the artworks dating from 1973 - 2011.

Jüri Arrak‘s works of art are found in collections worldwide: MoMa - Museum of Modern Art in New York, New York Public Library, the White House in Washington, Zimmerli Art Museum in New Jersey, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, etc.

Ivi Arrak
has graduated from Tartu University and worked as a professional psychologist. But twenty years ago Ivi Arrak was attracted to painting. Ivi Arrak’s basic mode of expression in painting is color and its many various moods. The abstract compositions tell us of the painter's thoughts, feelings and emotions.
